Session 2 - 10/7/09

The group arrived on the moon unsure of what to expect. On their arrival they were issued magnetic boots. It was explained to them that the moon had light gravity and to simulate the gravity of Earth-that-was they used magnetic boots.

The group donned the issued boots and walked out of the shuttle and onto a network of raised metal platforms. The endless city stretched from horizon to horizon. Of note, buildings tended not to be much taller than a just a few stories and most were made of stone.

After traversing a number of pathways, the group found themselves headed to what looked like a coliseum, but it covered significantly more ground. Upon arrival to the coliseum, they entered a magnificent entryway containing a large model of an unimaginably large spaceship - something Julas and Duncan figured would take the entire Alliance Military to pilot and maintain.

They were then greeted by Sui Gon. A man of oriental descent, he was very much westernized in his customs, shaking hands and smiling were dead giveaways, not to mention his expensive suit.

Sui Gon led them through what was at the center of the building, an area whose purposes became obvious to the group, the area for ship construction. Ships of all varieties, colors, and specifications were being built here, some nearly finished, others hardly begun.

At the very center of the construction area was a small building. As Sui Gon explained, "this building is where meetings with clients are held - we like to take them through our shipyard first so they can see the operation". Inside the building was strictly a room designed for meetings, a long office table with a series of chairs, and towards the outskirts of the building bathroom facilities and other small rooms.

Sui Gon gave the group the full briefing on the reason he wanted to see them:

The Alliance is trying to extend its reach to the Rim planets. To accomplish this, they are expanding their fleet exponentially. In the process of building their ships, they have bought up all supplies of metal from Ezra causing an early termination of my contract with the mine bosses there.

Long story short, Sui Gon was going to give them a loaner ship and have them head to the distant planet Athens where some mine bosses were interested in setting up a deal. He was sending an assistant with them to negotiate the trade. Sui Gon suggested that they could have the ship he gave them after working off the cost of the ship, or instead they could get another ship of their choosing provided they can earn enough to purchase such a ship.

With that, the group was introduced to their new ship, a Hotaru, a Firefly class transport.

On their 20 day trip to Athens (recalculation of travel time done here), the ship was boarded by Alliance. When everyone and everything came back squeeky clean, the Alliance commander said he would flag them as having been searched and clear for non-stop flight to Athens.

Towards the end of the flight they were attacked by raiders. Having no combat ability in space, they allowed the raiders to board, but set up an ambush for them.

As the raiders boarded, Jetten gave the order. Lotus hopped on a large mule and ran over half of their numbers, taking cover as quickly as possible. Simultaneously Julas made the ship lurch to the side to throw the remaining boarding party off their balance - at which point everybody opened gunfire on the raiders, killing most and severely injuring the rest. Jetten and Ashley then instructed everybody to load the bodies into the bay door while they ran to the other ship. Jetten opened the door to the other ship as Ashley set demolitions inside the bridge between the ships.

Soon as Jetten and Ashley got back, they closed the door and the contents of the raider ship as well as the raiders that were on the Hotaru were ejected into space. The enemy ship crumpled in many locations making it just another piece of space debris.

The crew got their bearings as they prepared for their arrival on Athens.
